Răzvan Florescu
is a vibraphonist and composer with a strong academic and artistic background. He is a graduate of the National University of Music Bucharest, where he studied both jazz and classical percussion, developing a broad and versatile musical foundation.
His work reflects a continuous interest in sound, structure, and interaction, shaped by experience in a wide range of musical contexts. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with ensembles and orchestras and has performed at major festivals and venues across Romania and Europe.
As a band leader, Răzvan Florescu is actively involved in composing and shaping original projects, with a focus on clarity of expression through the Răzvan Florescu Quartet.
About the Project
Răzvan Florescu Quartet is a contemporary jazz group performing original music rooted in jazz, with influences from world music, classical traditions, and subtle electronic elements. The quartet places a strong emphasis on group interplay and a cohesive, exploratory sound.
Formed in 2024, the group was awarded First Prize at the Jazzbook Grant, received the Best Composition Award at the Johnny Răducanu International Jazz Festival, and has performed at JazzAhead (Germany), Jazz in the Park Competition, Jazz in ’t Park (Ghent), Gărâna Jazz Festival, Jazz at Bran Castle, among other festivals across Romania and Europe. The quartet was also a finalist at the B-Jazz International Contest (Belgium).
